Values

The Values of the Rangatahi Syndicate are the same to anyone else but we have to be a more responsible and good role model, especially the mediators they have to be the most responsible and caring people of the school so that the juniors wont be scared of us.

Every value that the school has the mediators and Rangatahi syndicate has to follow the rules every day of the week, and every week of the term for the whole year.

Freedom Friday

Every Friday the Rangatahi Syndicate has a chance to go out or stay inside and do an activity chosen by the teachers. The Rangatahi activities include : Going to the park and playing a muddy game, staying at school and make loom bands, Play board games and Technology days. Every week is different from the last week e.g we had done a technology day one week and then the next week we did crafts or line dancing. You can decide what you do if there are multiple choices. They are very fun to do and everyone enjoys doing it.

Sadly people can miss out by either getting in the Loss of Privilege book or being naughty in class. But luckily not many people miss out, Usually only one or two people.

Anti Bullying Day

Today is Anti-Bullying day, The History is Amazing for it...The original event was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia, who in 2007 bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after male ninth grade student Charles McNeill was bullied for wearing a pink shirt during the first day of school. In Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald proclaimed the second Thursday of September "Stand Up Against Bullying Day" in recognition of these events.

In 2008, the then Premier of British Columbia, Gordon Campbell proclaimed February 27 to be the provincial anti-bullying day. It was then celebrated on February 25 in 2009. In 2009, Boys and Girls Clubs worked on pink T-shirts that say "Bullying Stops Here." and "Pink Shirt Day" for Anti-Bullying Day.

Hope you Help support it by wearing Pink!!!

Pass It On

For the past few weeks Room 12 has been researching about our past through our Parents, Grand parents and if possible Great, Grand parents.

You may or may not know this... many Elders have very interesting stories, facts and they can also help to reveal more of the family tree to people which are very famous or, to awesome people you would have never seen or heard of!

Currently we have been hearing the fascinating stories about how our Grandpa's survived World War 2 or how our Grandma's helped a Classic rock super star.

Here is Lance's Pass It On Story.

My Dad’s lucky escape
One day in the Philippines my Dad was going to his friend’s house (whose neighbor had a big black dog) what my Dad didn't know was that this dog was known for running out and viciously attacking people.

My dad was approaching his friend’s house when the dog spotted him. The Dog stared at him and didn't move until my Dad made eye contact. As soon as my Dad made eye contact the dog started barking ferociously and ran straight at my Dad. Luckily my Dad spotted a tree in the distance. He ran as fast as he could and climbed up the tree as the dog was about to reach him.

After 5-10 minutes (which seemed like an eternity to him) the people who owned the dog took it back and eventually put it on a chain. In the end my Dad still got to see his friend. My Dad was so rattled after that experience.
